Each day in Africa the number of mothers who die in childbirth is equivalent to the number of seats in three jumbo jets.
If that's not evidence enough that something needs to be done to help improve the situation in sub-Saharan African countries, add the chances of a woman dying from treatable or preventable complications of pregnancy and childbirth: 1 in 6.
In developed countries, that risk is 1 in 7300.
Mothers of Africa is a Medical Educational Charity that trains medical staff in Sub-Saharan Africa to care for mothers during pregnancy and childbirth.
Of course, it takes lots of people to do this. Find out about some of the people involvedOur Team
"The death toll from conditions is shocking and outrageous but basic improvements can make big differences in complex situations."
